I'm New

We are excited that you are interested in Aldersgate United Methodist Church- Augusta, Georgia. We’ve been praying and planning for you. We are very intentional about sharing the love of God through a living relationship with Jesus Christ with those in our community and making a positive difference in the world. We hope that you will join in those efforts. Aldersgate is also a great place to make new friends.

Our Mission and Vision

Our Biblical mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ
for the transformation of the world.

How are we doing that?
We seek to help people learn about and experience God’s presence. A living relationship with Jesus Christ brings forgiveness and new life. The ministry of the congregation seeks to extend the unconditional love of Christ to everyone. We do this through worship experiences (in-person and online), small groups and classes for all ages, and through an emphasis on missional service.
We are a people of blessing in our local community through partnerships with our local schools (A. Brian Merry Elementary, Lake Forest Hills Elementary, Tutt Middle, Langford Middle, Westside High), Joseph M. Still Burn Center, University Hospital, Prayer Quilt Ministry, GriefShare, Safe Homes for abused women and their children, Family Promise, Master’s Table, Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries, and Augusta Urban Ministries.
Internationally, we are engaged in God’s activity in Nicaragua and Lebanon and around the world through the worldwide ministries of the United Methodist Church.

Disciples grow in the faith and become more and more Christ-like through consistent and faithful worship, prayer, Bible study, service and generosity.

Let's Worship Together!

Here’s some information that will help in preparation for our Sunday morning in-person worship experiences:

We offer traditional worship experiences at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. in our sanctuary. During this time of COVID, we are not singing so instrumental music (piano and organ) is featured and services are shorter than normal lasting about 35-45 minutes. Both services offer a helpful and hope-filled message.
The dress style varies- some come in business casual and others wear suits/ties or dresses. Everyone is welcome. God cares more about your heart than your clothes.
We have reserved the best parking spaces just for you. Enter the church campus from the western entrance, nearest the Wheeler/Aumond traffic circle. Once you enter the parking lot, take an immediate right and park at the front of the church buildings. Specially marked “Guest Parking” spots are available. On foot, follow the pathway and signage to the sanctuary entrance. The sanctuary is the brick building with the vertical stained glass Jesus window. Friendly greeters will be in place to direct you and answer any questions you may have.
Normally, our worship services last about 60 minutes. However, with safety in mind, we have shortened our services to 35-45 minutes during the COVID pandemic.
We love kids in worship. As the saying goes, if you don’t hear crying, the church is dying! If you would prefer a nursery for your child, please contact Kim Capers at kcapers@aldersgateum.com or 706-733-4416 to find out about our current offerings.
We have multiple opportunities for preschool and elementary-aged kids, even during this COVID pandemic. Please contact Kim Capers at kcapers@aldersgateum.com or 706-394-0227 to learn more. For middle school and high school activities, contact Rev. Meg Wilkes at mwilkes@aldersgateum.com or 803-622-1315..
Restrooms are located in our family life center. Exit the sanctuary, walk across the small courtyard, enter the double glass doors, walk down the short hallway, take a left, and then a quick right and the restrooms are on the right. We promise it isn’t quite as hard as it sounds. A greeter would be happy to show you the way.
The church operates by the faithful and generous financial contributions of its members. If God leads you to support the mission and ministries of this church, you may place any contributions in the black collection box on the table in the sanctuary lobby or give online at www.AldersgateGives.com.
We understand that some guests like to remain anonymous as they sample the worship experiences here at Aldersgate UMC. We respect that and want you to be able to do so. Know that we are here for you and would love to meet you and get you connected. Please contact Rev. Meg Wilkes at mwilkes@aldersgateum.com or 706-733-4416 at your convenience.
We look forward to seeing you soon! If you have any questions, please email mwilkes@aldersgateum.com or call 706-733-4416. Be sure to check out the rest of the website for some of the other great activities happening here at Aldersgate United Methodist. God is on the move here!
