History

Aldersgate United Methodist Church began on September 9, 1962, when ten families joined together and took a great step of faith in organizing a new Methodist church.  Over the past four decades, Aldersgate has continued to grow as a dynamic church in the North Georgia Conference.  We offer a wide range of ministries and opportunites to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

We are known as "The Church of the Warm Heart".  This name comes from the experience John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, had in 1738 on Aldersgate Street in London, England.  While at a prayer meeting he said he felt his heart strangely warmed.  Wesley experienced an assurance of God's love and salvation and went on to share that love with many others.  Today, the people of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia, share this same love with all who join us in worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
